This film was made by students in the context of the Haberdashers’ Borough Academy project, led by artist Sean Roy Parker.
As part of the opening of the school in 2019, Parker worked with artist-teacher Deborah Britton Field and pupils of Haberdashers’ Borough Academy, London, to consider what kind of school the students and teachers would like to create. The project centred around the pivotal role the school’s art department could play in developing and positively promoting an eco-conscious curriculum.
Focusing on themes of community and sustainability, and working across a national lockdown, Parker ran a series of online workshops, organised practical sessions, and worked with students to produce a zine, manifesto and film that explore ideas for developing the curriculum.
In this film, students document the process of the project, including highlights from their online workshops and a three-day eco-dying workshop, the results of which were fabricated into a large hanging textile by eco-conscious fashion designers TENS Studio and installed in the school.
