Published to mark the inaugural annual Freelands Painting Prize, this catalogue features work by eight graduate artists. The prize was launched to celebrate the teaching of painting in UK art schools and to recognise the depth and range of approaches to the practice of painting. Every art school in the UK was invited to submit a work by one of its final year Painting or Fine Art students to be considered by a selection panel for an exhibition at the Freelands Foundation gallery space in London. The publication features images of the eight winning paintings, alongside additional works by each of the artists. It also includes the essay ‘Making Room’ by art writer and historian Ben Street, who was also one of the selectors. Artists include Lewis Deeney, Charlotte Guérard, Michael Hanrahan, Georgina Harris, Fischer Mustin, Stuart Rayner, Jack Whitelock and Anna Woodward.
